Question:

Russian Revolution.. 3 questions i need help on.. anyone willing to give me some help or helpful websites?

1. Trotsky's contribution to the success of the Bolsheviks up to 1922?

2. Why Stalin but not Trotsky emerged as Lenin's successor?

3. The purges, secret police, propoganda and the 'cult personality' and Stalin's economic policies were reasons for Stalin not being able to hold power... how far dp you agree?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Trotsky made some import contributions to communist thought, but he was always something of a marginalized figure within the Bolshevik movement due to ideological disagreements with Lennon. He was an important organizer, but not crucial.

Stalin was general-secretary of the communist party, a position he abused to gain supporters. It gave him a lot of connections, even though Lennon did not intend for Stalin to be his successor.

They were the reasons Stalin WAS able to hold power.
