I love to paint (acrylics on canvas) but I just can't get started..............?

Question:

I love to paint (acrylics on canvas) but I just can't get started..............?

It's kinda like I'm so scared I'll mess the whole thing up....I just end up painting something elementary or "safe".....Please give me some advice on how to overcome this obstacle.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Face your fear. It can be scary...that's natural. However, if you 'Love it"...then you will love doing it...so do it. One GREAT thing about acrylics is they dry very fast. Mistakes are easily covered up with more paint. You will make mistakes...and then paint over them. If you don't like the way it looks...change it. And don't forget...you don't have to show them to ANYONE! So don't be afraid of yourself. Also, the longer you paint per sitting the looser or bolder you will become. Don't paint for a half-an-hour and quit...spend 4, 6, or 8 hours on it. The best advice is HAVE FUN with it.
