Question:

Is art mostly inborn or hard work?

ive always wanted to be an artist...but sometimes i feel mediocre in it....do real artists have it 'easy'??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Most people are born with some degree of artistic talent so, yes, there is a little of the artist in all of us.

In sports there are 'natural' athletics to which it seems that every thing comes 'easy' and there are 'average' athletics who bust their butts, push their 'average' talents to the fullest, and become great players. The same could be said for artists.

There is just about every variation you can think of.

There are some artists with excellent technical skills but without the 'vision' to ever really be original. Then there are some very original artists who suck as skilled artistic craftsmen. It's rare when you find both skills in the same person.

Most of us fall somewhere in between.

You can keep trying and keep developing and keep pushing your talent until you've reach the higher skill levels. Most people born with creative talent can do this. And what you're not born with you can learn.

Two things to remember: Never judge your own art against the art of others and never let yourself get too satisfied with what you've done already because that is when you stop 'growing' as an artist.

The rest of the answer to your question applies to the great
exception: The rarest and most precious of all the creative gifts is 'vision' because it can't be taught, it can't be bought and it can't denied. Perhaps one in ten thousand artists are born with true 'original' vision.
