Question:

A difficult situation! Please assist me!?

My great-grandmother Stella Hartman (born Pasuit) was born on May 27, 1897 in a place that sounds like "New City" (possibly Neu or Nieu?) that was in Austria-Hungary, and bordered Poland.... Austria doesn't have a border with Poland anymore. Can anyone help me find out what ship Stella came over on? She lived in Buffalo, New York and came to the US when she was about 16 we believe. Also, does anyone know how I could find out where this city is now? It obviously can't be in Austria.

I found nothing at all from Ellis Island's website, thats the first place I thought to look :( . Also she had one Russian parent and one Polish parent, although which was which is not known to anyone.

She came in 1910 according to the 1930 U.S. census.
