Question:

Vibrato for cello?

I'm a cellist, and although I play at a very high level, my vibrato could use some work. I can do it, but I have really bad muscle tension, and sometimes it gets in the way...Does anyone know of any excersizes I could use to combat this?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ok i play the viola at a high level too

*another thing is to not slide your finger agross the board to mych or to little because you will hear wobbleing or not hear it at all. aply a lot of pressure to the finger to not make it weak.
* Be graceful like a crane *
you need to move your wrist elegantly and not use too much arm.
*another exersize is to put your elbows on a table with your arms facing normally infront of you.
*then you wiggle your wrists and a bit of your arm.
i know it makes you look retarted BUT IT WORKS
there are other exersises but i guess there only meant for the viola+violin:( i tried!!*
