Question:

What would be some good ideas for a World War II project?

I am trying to brainstorm some ideas for my World War II project. It could be any subject that deals with World War II.
Some of the ideas I have already brainstormed, but do not find as strong ideas are:
Comparing War Memorials
Comparing Hitler to another dictator
9-11 versus Pearl Harbor
Comparing the experiences of soldiers from different armies
Comparing the American or Allied mentality of the war to the Germans' or Japanese's mentalities
The Holocaust in France

My favorite idea is the French Resistance duing the war. I'm interested to know some of your ideas.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Actually, I wrote my doctoral dissertation on the Nazi occupation of Denmark during the Second World War. I've always found it interesting the differences in the scope and types of occupation by the Nazis in Europe (the West was treated much differently than the East). You could easily write a paper on this topic.

You could also compare the propaganda techniques of the Allies and Axis, as well as the amount of censorship each displayed.

Focusing on a particular country can also be a good route to go (i.e. France, Germany, the United States, Russia, Italy, Holland, etc ..). You could also focus on a particular theater of the war (i.e. Africa, Eastern Europe, the Pacific).

If you're going to compare Hitler to anyone your two best choices would be Mussolini and Stalin.

Comparing 9-11 and Pearl Harbor would be very problematic, and would create too many anachronistic interpretations (thats not a good thing in historiography).
