The first island he landed on, I think it was Haiti, was occupied by hundreds of thousands of a type of indian people. By the time Columbus was done with the place, which was over 10 years, the entire race was destroyed byt slavery, abuse, imprisonment, and disease.

The same is with the native americans. The brutality that the erupoeans had forced upon the natives is unimaginable and is certainly not focused on in text books and such.
