Hycanith is the name of a flower .I'll tell you the connection of this flower's name's origin to the Trojan War.
In the Trojan War,when Achilles gets over his differences with Agamemnon and decides to fight again he is in need of his armour. His mother Thetis gives hima an armour made of pure bronze moulded by Vulcan himself.
Achilles plunges into the war and starts his unstoppable assault on the Trojans. He fights valiantly and kills many a Trojan hero including Hector the scion among the Trojans.
In this phase of the war he resembled a farmer reaping his ripened crops, the only thing hereis that here the ripened crops were the Trojan soldiers.
At last according to the prophecy Paris kills Achilles by hiding and shooting at his heel treacherously.
Then a meeting is called among the Greeks to decide who was fit to don the now-dead Achilles blazing armour.Unanimously the council decided to give it to Ulysses.
In disappointment Ajax hung himself as he had failed to gain the armour. While dying he muttered "Hycanith,Hycanith",which meant alas, alas in ancient parolinic greek. As soon as he died flowers sprung upon that place. It was a very remarkable sight.Hence, those flowers are named after Ajax's cry of anguish-'Hycanith'
