Question:

In great expectations what do you think about estella?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I've read Great Expectations about a hundred times.
Here I go
Estella Havisham (best known in literature simply as Estella) is a significant character in the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations.

Like the protagonist, Pip, Estella is introduced as an orphan, but where Pip was raised by his sister and her husband to become a blacksmith, Estella is adopted and raised by the wealthy and eccentric Miss Havisham to become a lady.
Pip is ever so fascinated with the lovely Estella, though her heart is as cold as ice. Aside from the evident romantic interest which carries through much of the story, Pip's meeting of Estella marks a turning point in his young life, as Estella's beauty, grace and wealthy prospects represent the opposite of Pip's own humble life prospects. Estella criticizes Pip's honest but "coarse" ways, and from that point on, Pip grows dissatisfied with his position in life, and eventually with his former values and friends as well.

In the beginning she ill treats Pip and even slaps him. But,mind you, once she even asks him whether he loved her.Later on they go on their own ways but keep meeting each other at regular intervals.
They are like two ships crossing each other rarely, but whenever they crossed each other their affection for each other was just blatantly apparent.
Ms.Havisham teaches Estella how to ditch young men and treat them with a sense of inferiority. As,she herself was ditched.
But,later on as Estella meets Pip her heart begins to melt and she finds genuine love for Pip.
In the end when Pip proclaims his love for Estella and asks her to marry him she meekly accepts. This symbolises a clear shattering of the ego and haughtiness she possessed in the beginning of the book.
Thus Estella can be seen as the driving force behind Pip in the book who decides to become a gentle man to attain her love, and also the character who symbolises drastic change as we coarse through the events in this book
