Question:

One handed piano pieces?

Hi all.

I can only really use my right handon the piano, so does anybody know of songbooks for just the right hand? I prefer jazz, pop, folk etc but I'm OK with classical.
Thanks and smiles,

Nick :)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You would be best served using books for single-line instruments, like flute, violin, etc. They are easy to find - pop, jazz, rock, classical - you name it. If you are an advanced or serious pianist, the check out Leon Fleischer and Gary Graffman - both had injuries that di not allow them the use of both hands. Their info will link you to more stories about pianists of the past who were one-handed performers.

As a music educator, I have had many students over the years with a variety of disabilities. Missing right hand? - played French horn. Incomplete left arm and hand? Played trombone. Not all fingers on RH? - Played violin, and other played bass. Percussion - drums, or mallets, with adaptations - always a possibility. Look into other possibilities for yourself that will allow you to play in a GROUP - whcih is really cool.
