Hair in PS Elements?

Ok, I need a accurate and hopefully quick way to extract hair in Photoshop Elements 5.0. Just a reminder that Elements has neither Quick Mask, nor a Channels Palette. And please don't just tell me to go out and buy a full version of Photoshop.

Unfortunately PSE does not have extract under the filters menu.
