Question:

Would you rather be a kaleidoSCOPE, a microSCOPE, or a teleSCOPE?

:-)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: what a visual question... it makes you think about what you see and what you might like to see of the world around you.
a kaleidoscope takes light and scatters it into beautiful and brilliant, although not accurate or truthful, colors. nice for a change or variety, but tiring on a daily basis. so that's not my first choice.

a microscope takes a very small, almost indecipherable thing and magnifies it so we can better learn its secrets. it's a way to get a good idea of the things immediately around us, and to see things that we know exist but can't quite bring into focus... making the known and suspected even more known. good for proving ourselves right or wrong... still not the best choice for me.

a telescope shows us things we might never envision or think about without its aid. far away things that stir the imagination (yes the word 'image' is part of imagination) and give rise to new ideas that may not have yet been considered. it also helps bridge the gap and make the inaccessible more inaccessible, and makes the world seem just a bit more wondrous and intimate all at the same time. what a gift!

i'll take the telescope!
