Question:

How much do I charge to take pictures for a web site?

I am an amateur photographer and a friend has asked that I take pictures for the web site where he works. How do I decide what to charge.... He thinks I would be a great fit but I have never done this before. All the photos are going to be digital and put on a disc.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Charge $200 to show up and a per image usage fee of about $20 for each image they use for one month, $35 for three months and $65 for a year.

These fees can be negotiated, but they are a good starting point. Have them give you an idea of how many images they are planning to use before you shoot and how long the want to use them and then you may be able to do a "package" deal for them.

Be sure to invoice them with the details of the rights you are selling them.

Also be sure to copyright all of them using the "File Info ... " feature in Photoshop before you put the edited images on the CD.
