Question:

Do old glass negatives have any value?

I have a old glass negative with the actual photo what do you think the best thing to do with it. not sure it would display very well. It is is prime condition.Sould I give it to a museum or just hang on to it. what is the best way to store it.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I agree with rc_gromit that the value depends on the age and the condition. It is not terribly difficult to get a usable image from a glass negative - just scan it with a flatbed scanner, convert to positive and maybe tweak it for contrast. Most image editing programs will do these things.

Upon seeing the subject, you may want to print the image or use it for a web site, etc. I've seen some images done this way that were spectacular in their detail and in the subjects. I doubt the ones I saw were valuable except perhaps to the person's family.
