Question:

"Bugs in a bowl"....?????

I just remembered this little poem and wonder if anyone could provide the original piece? It goes something like this..."Bugs in a bowl...going 'round and 'round...climbing up and sliding back down..it's not so bad being a bug in a bowl!"

I just loved it because it reminds me of the 'seeking game' it's beginning frustrations and then...just realizing that..everything is all right...just as it is!

To embrace 'it all' is divinity...even the seeming cr*p. =)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: it seems like almost the anti-thesis to Pink Floyd's words..."we're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year, running over the same old ground, but have we found the same old fears"...

Your poem of choice describes those contented with the fixed outcome of life, the routine, the inescapable.

While my choice of quote comes across more anxious about how life is going, frustrated at the sometimes trapped feeling we get in this existence, the need to question, is this all there is, or if it's not is this as far as I can go? Is there a so much more than what I can see reflected back at me, in my little fishbowl?

As the next line in Pink Floyd's song points out, even a life that has echoes of futility is better shared with someone else, someone special, who doesn't mind the fishbowl, so long as you're together.

One more note, I think the bug-gies are fine with their bowl because they don't yearn for more.....
