Question for those who bash Harry Potter.....?

It seems that a lot of people on here are annoyed with all the Harry Potter hype. But, isn't it a good thing that people are getting excited about a BOOK? I mean, it might not be the best book ever written but it's tore some people away from the TV and video games...that's an improvement.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's great to be excited about a book. However, hearing the same thing over and over and over and over again (what's going to happen in HP7? Does HP die in the next book? Is Snape good or bad?).

Good lord, people, there's only so much a person can take before they go insane.

I've read all the books to date and -- while I'm happy to get and read the next one -- I can't help but wonder if, with the conclusion of the story, those same kids will go back to their video games and televisions....you gotta wonder.

Now, if those same kids would spend as much time on the classics as they do on the contemporary fiction, it would be another matter, but it haven't I haven't seen a proportional number of questions about Shakespeare or any of the great authors of the centuries as I have about HP.
