Question:

In The Book The Red Badge of Courage?

What were Henry's reasons for becoming a soldier? What about the war was so attractive to him?

Why do you think it took Henry so long to begin contemplating his part in battle?

How do Jim and Wilson respond to Henry's question? What does this tell you about them?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: For the first one, he wanted to be a soldier because it made him feel strong, courageous, and manly. And I think he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps or something like that.

The second one, Henry was more focused on being brave and macho, and less on the real meaning of the war.

I don't know the third. And my first and second are just what I remember from reading the book last year. I hated that book haha.
