In harry potter... where did everyone get the explanation that someone has to die?

i know that either voldemort or harry has to die but do you think that jkr would just kill harry to end it, orvoldemort would die and everyone lives happily ever after?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: JK Rowling has said in interview's that with the last book two major characters die that she didn't originally plan but that one that she had planed to kill gets a reprieve.

From this information and the prophecy people are assuming that harry/Voldemort or both will die.

Guess we'll know for sure in another 2 & 1/2 weeks
