Question:

Which Shakespeare play is your favorite and why?

Mines are Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet because both are good and romantic (second one that I mentioned) and intense.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Give me Merchant of Venice any day!

I love a battle. And when I read Merchant of Venice, I saw a battle unfold of Gentile (gentle?) v. Jew; Antonio v. Shylock. Of course, that's exactly what the play is about.
I wrote a research paper on the book, arguing that Shylock was the victim of the book, not the villain that people tend to paint. And his redemption speech: ...If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, do we not revenge?... The entire speech is my favorite quote ever, and I have used it for a play audition monologue.
Anyway, the best thing about the book is Shakespeare wrote it at a time to be a comedy. Shylock was probably comical looking and/or stupid acting (Like Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night!), but in today's society, we tread upon the book more quietly. No, it is not entirely a comedy. It is a life lesson
