Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The D80 is an SLR, single lens reflex. The image comes thru the lens and hits a mirror to redirect it to the viewfinder, that way you're looking thru the lens and not getting what's called "paralax error" due to the viewfinder being off-axis with the lens (a problem with point and shoots). This means that there's a mirror in front of your sensor (CCD) until you press the shutter release, at which point it folds the mirror up and exposes the sensor, which is what makes the clicking sound when you push the button. The short version is, you don't. You have an entry-pro grade camera that's designed to work better than those little things people are pointing at everything these days. You can check your manual and see if there's a way to fold up the mirror and turn on the sensor, but I seriously doubt it.
