Question:

I'm off to accomplish my dream. First things first...?

My Dream: To have a poetry book published this summer at a pretty young age.

My Problem: I need a publishing company that publishes poetry books for young teens.

My Question: Does anyone know of any? More than one is a good thing because it may not go with the first company.

Thanks guys.

This is my dream. This is me following through with my dream. And this is me going into it completely. I want to make this happen. I know I'm good. I know I can do this. All I need is your answers to this question to get close to all the way.

I've always said that dreams always run away from you and you have to run after them to catch them. It means that if you want to make your dreams come true you've got to work hard for it. I have worked hard. A year. Of writing and dedicated passion to this.

Thanks again.

Much appreciated. I'm going to live my dream hopefully this summer.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: For starters, I'm seriously doubting the above poster's credibility simply because her own sentence structure is horrible and no published author would ever write so sloppily. Not to mention suggesting Google for publishing companies. Yikes.

I suggest you purchase The Writer's Market 2007 and research publishing companies within your genre. Before you do that, make sure your manuscript is completely finished -- from all your works of poetry, grammar, spelling, etc. You need to have it 100 percent polished and clean.

Learn to write a great query letter and get cracking. Develop and edit several drafts before coming to your final draft. Once you've done that, submit ONLY the query letter. You'll likely face dozens of rejections (not because of your age mind you) but don't give up. Thousands of good and great authors have faced dozens if not hundreds of rejections prior to being published.

Be realistic in achieving your dream. It's wonderful you want to achieve this by the end of the summer but in all likelihood you won't achieve it until the end of the year, if ever. If you love to write and have a passion for it no amount of rejection will stop you, nor will the amount of time it takes.

And whatever you do, do NOT do self-publishing if you ever have hopes of becoming a professional, credible author that editors and publishers respect. Self-publishing does not earn heavy sales beyond immediate family and friends and it will not make you a successful author.

I wish you the best in your dream.
