Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Sorry for the wrong answers here, but the correct answer is generally a year - when the publishing company has pretty much worn out its welcome in hardcover and they are ready to hit the less expensive hardcover market. Some books, like The Da Vinci Code took much longer. It's all about making money. Pax- C
