Question:

Question about photo matting, please!?

I have some photos that have been accepted in a shop to sell on consignment. I have the mats and photos.
1. What do I use to attach the photo to the mat?
2. Do I need to use something on the back to make it sturdier and if so what is it called?
3. Do I attach the mat to the backing and if so, how?
4. What is the "plastic" sheeting called that covers it all?
Sorry for all the questions and I appreciate any help you can give me.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: 1. Acid-free photo tape or photo corners.
2. Use the same acid-free mat board you use for the front mat.
3. Yes, acid-free double-sided tape is best.
4. If the mat is a standard size you can buy plastic sleeves at a mat/frame shop which have an acid-free glue strip to secure them.

You can also use dry mounting, which is what we do. It's harder to do and more expensive, but better.
