Question:

How can I increase my vocal range?

one of the roles on my "roles i must play before i die" list is cristine in phantom. In a couple years I will be old enough to play her finally. And I think with some private training and a lot of practice I would actually have a chance of getting the part. the problem is, if I am correct the vocal range of this part is from like, a low D to high E. and my current range is from low G to high B. so I need to be able to hit some higher notes. and if you can, can you give me any tips on how to sing with a more operatic tone?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes, private training and practice will most definitely improve you as a vocalist.

There have been VERY FEW Christines in POTO on broadway, you will have to work very hard!

To get that more "operatic" tone, it is probably better for you to be trained as an opera singer. Sarah Brightman is, also the amazing Kristin Chenoweth is.

Anyway, if you try different warm ups, slowly stretching your range, it will gradually get higher.

Also, pick songs that are difficult for you to sing, they will help you stretch your range as well.

Hope this helps, and to see you as Christine in a few years!
