Question:

Do you think I could be a professional photographer?

Here is an example of what I do:

Sorry! This is the only one I have available at the moment. I edited it on adobe photoshop, but I couldn't find out how to get a link for that, but here is the un-edited photo. So, it doesn't have that "glow" that the professional photos have. I can do that on regular photos of people, which look just spectacular! (I'm gonna get a link tomorrow hopefully and then ask again) This is a picture of my toy Shih Tzu, Geisha.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Absolutely, with some practice. Hey, even pro's have to practice their techniques to improve!!

Take a look at the photo. I can see every blade of grass, and every crack in the sidewalk in perfect focus, but the adorable dog's face, which should be the focus of the picture, is slightly out of focus.

It seems like you focused on the grass, and then selected an aperture of about 5.6-8 which made the grass perfectly in focus, but everything off of that plane, slighly out of focus.

Someone suggested the following to me when taking animal pictures. Always, always focus on the EYES!!! Ideally, the eyes should be see to be picking up some light- called "catch light" as well.

Lets say you focused sharply on the dog's eyes and then used an aperture of 5.6-8. Now the dogs eyes and lovely face
would be in beautiful focus, (the endearing part of the picture)
and the dogs body and sidewalk and grass blades would be slightly out of focus. Now THAT would be a picture!!
