Question:

Has anyone ever heard or read this poem who is the author?

I have this poem memorized and want to have it tatooed on my back but I want the author of the puzzle to be credited in the same. the tatoo will be dedicated to my mom who passed in 2003. Here is the poem.

If ever i forget thee,
what would I be then.
A barren sea, a starless sky,
a nightinggale turned wren.

If ever i forget thee,
the sun need never rise.
The only dawn for which I long,
is breaking in thine eyes.

This is the only poem i have ever read and remembered by heart. I forgot who the author was.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I was unable to find the poem anywhere online but that doesn't mean you can't get the tattoo done now. You can always go back and get the name added in later, if you learn who authored the poem. Unfortunately, after searching multiple phrases from the poem, nothing came up so this may be your only option.

Also, before you get this tattoo, be sure you don't misspell any of the words (nightingale) because this will be permanent. You can't be sure your tattoo artist will catch a misspelled word and you don't want everyone who looks at it afterward pointing out this mistake.
