Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I love countless musicals! I know everyone likes Rent and Wicked, but I think they are just a bit overrated. There are so many more classic ones, so many better ones, with better songs, better stories, better scripts, better lyrics...that show us history, love, hope, emotions all mixed together... So here are those that I think are the best, not in any particular order. CABARET It's beautiful, it's touching, it's amusing, it's hilarious, and very mature. It's about a very fascinating character, in one of the most fascinating of times--the uprising of Nazis in the 1930's Berlin. It's so sad, and the songs in the Kit Kat club are just fantastic!!! I simply adored it. And the movie was amazing. CHICAGO After watching this one, all I could say was WOW!!! Superb! It's so intriguing, just the constant battle between the prisoners, and the songs are just so catchy, while not so cliched and shallow. And the characters in the show are so lifelike... Simply beautiful. THE FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Wow!!!!!!!!! Since I am Jewish, I had to say this is one of my most loved EVER!! It's very melancholy sometimes, but it has just first-rate songs that also have a Jewish feel to it. It made me cry in the end, it's so good! not only informational, but also just so entertaining, so... excellent! PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Everyone likes Phantom, but could I say? One of my absolute faves! WEST SIDE STORY Sad story, beautiful songs, cultural differences, Romeo and Juliet the American style, almost perfect. CATS YAY! AMAZING!!!!! Memory is the best Musical song ever, and it's so close to everyone's heart... it's the human society, just Cats! And there are tons more, but it's just too hard! My Fair Lady is another one, forgot about that, and Singin' in the Rain is just fabulous. Hope this is what you wanted! |
