Question:

If circumcision removes sensitivity was circumcision a form of birth control.?

Many civilazations have wanted to eleminate Jews. Who came up with the idea that they should be circumsized. Does the content of the word "sized" mean to make smaller?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Circumcision, from Latin circumc䫤ere,

circum-, around : caedere, to cut

The idea that circumcision as a way of birth control would not make any sense what-so-ever. If you are going to go to that trouble, why not just cut the testis off? Besides, removing the foreskin has no substantial effect on ejaculation.

The idea that they should be 'circumcised' came from the Tanakh or Hebrew Bible (also known as the first books of the Quran-{Islam} and the first books of "The Bible" -{Christianity}).

The penalty of non-observance was excision from the people of Israel (Gen. 17:10-14, 21:4; Lev. 12:3). Non-Israelites had to undergo circumcision before they could be allowed to take part in the feast of Passover (Ex. 12:48), or marry into a Jewish family (Gen. 34:14-16).

Of course people don't always take things so literally now and may not cast out family members for not following the directions of the Hebrew Bible.
