Question:

Little poem -- comments?

O, if I was stronger,
If you were more weak;
If I was humbler,
But you were less meek;

My love would still grow,
E'en without your sweet rain:
In cloud-cover low,
Or the sun's glorious rays.

And O! if you left me,
For some other one
Though I wouldn't forget thee,
May this never come;

May no shadow be shed
Between your heart and mine
Dear, forget what I said--
If you left me, I'd die.

Just kind of fun--I should say, though, this isn't the way I usually write--something a little different is exciting:-)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I love this! I like how you want to be stronger and humbler... it's kind of ironic that he would be strong and meek... it almost seems as if he wouldn't use that strength against you anyhow.

I also like how you changed your mind at the end of the poem. I relate with that because my mind is never truly "made up" when it comes to most things. It's almost like you tried to tell him that you'd love him no matter what happened, and that nothing could make you stop, but as you thought about life without him, the pain became unbearable and you had to blurt out your true feelings despite yourself.

Like I said, I love it! :)
