Question:

Where are the fans of Henry Miller, Bukowski, and other TRULY great writers?

It seems like every question I come across is geared more towards modern day books I dare not call literature. I just want to know how many of you out there prefer a bit more meat on your literary bones?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is rather rare (but certainly not unheard-of) for me to read anything written after about 1950. And when I do, it is scarcely ever "popular" literature - no J. K. Rowling, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, Stephen King, or the rest of that lot that so many people seem to think write great literature.
Give me William Faulkner any day, but there are some living writers who are excellent, too - E. L. Doctorow, for example.
I'm afraid that there are as many people who think that James Patterson is a great writer as there are people who think that Kenny G is a jazz artist.
