life and death

Riding along a rutted road at night,
Snorting lines of courage, no light.
Banging from the trunk again,
I don't think God will forgive this sin.

Two thousand dollars is the price,
Pretty damn cheap for human life.
You owe, you beg, you plead, you squeal,
The tears you cry, as you try to deal.

The mountain road winds high and steep,
The canyon off the cliff...oh so very deep.
The guy inside the trunk is quiet now,
The butt end of a gun put him off to sleep.

Why oh why, did it have to come to this,
I seem to recollect he's got a son named Chris.
You laugh, you play, but it's time to pay,
It doesn't even matter, That today is Fathers day.

The car it jolts and rolls to a stop,
Another rolls by, oh boy, it's just a cop.
The body lying in the trunk,
God I wish, he was just a drunk.

With all my strength, I hold the gun,
What the hell, this guy...he had his fun.
Blam, Blam, Blam, barked the forty five,
I got shotgun, I don't want to drive.
