This question poses a very interesting insight to the human mind....
Scenario: There is a train full of people going at full speed down the track. A couple miles ahead of the track, a family member/loved one is stuck on the train tracks. Inevitably the train will come and kill your family member. However, you have the chance of pressing a switch which will redirect the train from hitting your loved one. However, by redirecting the train from its tracks, it will inevitably plummet, killing all the passengers of the train. The choice is yours; let your loved one die, or a train full of people?

BTW you only have two choices. You can't save everyone; either the loved one or the train.
