Question:

Why is it when a woman enters the military and becomes a famous soldier, she is labeled as "bloodthirsty"?

But when a man enters the military and becomes a "famous soldier" he is labeled as heroic?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A very good question, and as a woman who has served in the military I can say, from experience, that even today women are still not seen as 'natural' soldiers. To be such is to be far removed from the feminine qualities so designated by the society of the time. Some people (men and women) struggle with women who reject aspects of their traditional role and behaviour, and indeed the same can be said of men who display feminine qualities (whether gay or straight).

Hopefully, attitudes will change as the 'old school' dies out and a more egalitarian approach is adopted. Until then, women will need to continue to fight for their right to serve their countries, along side their male colleagues.
