Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Guess you'll need to do the paperwork to learn the facts of the matter. City-states may have had nobility but not royalty, and for all I know Rome ruled nobility as well. A well-developed merchant middle class was another thing.

familysearch.org has no record of that surname or anything like it.
