Why does my camera takes dark pictures when i zoom in?


Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Most modern lens (other than the most professional lens) lose light (variable aperture). Your camera is suppose to compensate but there's only so much it can do with the given amount of light (either available light or flash).

Many "cheap" or consumer lens could lose up to 75% of the light (2 stop or more) when going from wide to zoomed mode. If you were to take pictures in daylight with plenty of light you would probably see much less of that effect.
