Question:

The American Revolution?

How Long would the American Revolution Soldiers be away from there homes? Would they be away from home the entire war, Or would they come home after a Certain point, Like a year or 6 months or something.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Soldiers during the Revolutionary War enlisted for a set amount of time that could vary. The first group's enlistment was up at the end of 1776 and there was a real fear that they would not re-enlist.

During most of America's wars (Civil, WWI, and WWII) soldiers were enlisted or drafted "for the duration". You didn't go home until you were killed, seriously injured, or the war was over. The idea of tours of duty (the idea of serving for 12 or 13 months) arose really during Vietnam.
