Why did the British attempt genocide on the Afikaneer whites in South Africa?

Did the British really try to kill the Boer -Dutch population so they could have all the gold and diamonds in the transvaal and then use the black population as the servile class afterwards. I believe so.

Ok then, why did the British use the very concertatration camps against the Dutch women and children,like rape,starvation and so on.The very same tactics against a population that the Nazis learned from that episode they were to use later on in the 20th.I don't see havinga more direct to India as a good reason,since they already had the suez canal for a while.
