Question:

In Your opinion, are digital pix pretty crappy looking compared to REAL pictures??

what do you think about that?
or ya think they are both pretty good?
just curious, esp. for anyone out there who considers themselves a professional photographer

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: They are both pretty good.

Each has its own drawbacks.

Film has grain and digital images have noise. They both behave in a similar way. If you shoot low ISO film or have the camera set at a low ISO, there will be less grain/noise.

As you enlarge both, the grain/noise will become more obvious.

The main drawback to digital is the overhead to the photographer.

Professional level film cameras can be used for decades.

The digital's must be replaced about every three to four years because of the demands of the clients. The cameras themselves will probably last just as long as film cameras, mechanically speaking.

I shoot most of my digital work in the RAW mode, so there is a lot of information in the image file. One would have to enlarge the image to over 4x6 feet to get much pixelation.
