Question:

About mtDNA?

Would a mtDNA test be able to tell me whether or not I am Celtic/Anglo-Saxon, etc? Will it be that specific?

Thanks...

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Provising you get the right tests done, it would tell you the haplotype of your mother's mother's mother etc.

Certain haplotypes are associated with certain ethnic groups/regions, so it would give you a general idea (although there is no such thing as a 'celtic' gene or an 'anglo-saxon' gene).

Furthermore, the mtDNA can only test one line out of thousands, so it's not as if you're ONLY what the test shows, you're thousands of other things too.
