Thor Heyerdahl proves that people from South America in Pre-Columbian times could have settled in Polynesia. He and 5 other guys build a balsa wood raft and set out from Peru to recreate the journey using only materials and technology that were available at the time. It's a real life adventure which documents all of their trials and tribulations. It's a very easy and enjoyable read and would make a good book report. This is a great book and I think you will enjoy it.
