William and Mary were offered the throne of England to:?

A. improve realations with Holland

D. restore the monarchy

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: James II had just been kicked out for being a Catholic. His newly born son, although not yet able to define the subtle distinctions of theology, was, at least officially, a Catholic.

Although her father and mother were converts to Roman Catholicism, Mary was brought up a Protestant. In November 1677 she was married to her cousin William of Orange, stadholder of Holland and champion of Protestantism in Europe.

William and Mary were just the right, Protestant, candidates for the throne.
