Blurry light pictures?

ya no those pictures professional photographers take of the lights in a single line of motion from the light moving while the picture is taken
how do i create that effect with my digital camera

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I think you are referring to using a slow shutter speed. If you are, first, you have to have a camera you can control the shutter speed and lens aperture. Second you need a tripod. The easiest subject is traffic at night. Lock the camera down on the tripod so it doesn't move. Use a long shutter speed (this will vary, it takes experimentation.) If you use a 1 second shutter speed, this means the camera will be taking the picture for 1 second....cars moving by can cover alot of distance in that time. The result, when you finally get the right shutter speed, is the background is in sharp focus but anything moving will be streaks.
