Question:

What do you think of Romance books?

You know the kind. The ones middle aged women are always reading. Where every book is about some 'white hot passion that erupts so and so' leaving him/her to make the 'ultimate choice'. What do you think of these books? Do you think they have a positive influence or a negative influence over people? On women? Thanks in advance for your intuitive and well thought out answers.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Great entertainment (...and I'm not even yet middle aged).

The romance book industry is huge. Check out Romance Writers of America (www.rwanational.org) or the Romantic Times (www.romantictimes.com). There is a very wide range of types of romance novels.

A great genre within the romance genre is chick lit (sort of along the lines of Bridget Jones Diary).

Here are a two chick lit novels that I really enjoyed reading:

Shoe Addicts Anonymous by Beth Harbison
Savannah Blues by Mary Kay Andrews

Try them! Not all romance reading is about a knight in the shining armor.... Chick lit is about self-confident women who go after what's important to them. The romance story line isn't normally central to the plot, but it's still there. Except there's not always a wedding in the end...

Happy reading!
