Question:

What are the actual resolutions of a 3, 5, 7, 9, etc... megapixel picture?

I want to make a slideshow of just random stuff to test out my camera on my 1680x1050 monitor.

My camera is 7.2 Megapixels.

I'm wondering if I could just take a 5MP picture, for example, if that resolution is equal to or higher than my monitor's. That way, it'll still look great but take up less hard drive space.

So what are the actual resolutions of various megapixel sizes?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: For just showing photos on your monitor, you could use a smaller size than even 5MP.

Here's a great site with charts on both corresponding print size and resolution (if you scroll down past the main chart, you'll see the one with resolutions).
