Position:Home>Arts & Humanities> How can I get my hips to turn out that much in Ballet??

Question:

How can I get my hips to turn out that much in Ballet??

First position (the one where your feet are like.. virtical (i'm not sure of the order of the positions, sorry)) makes my knees feel weird, and then I noticed that my hips were not turned out enough. Is this something that I will get used to in time? Is this something that a ballet teacher can help me out with?? Or does this mean i can't do ballet?
When attempting to do the positions where your feet are both virtical and one's in front, a strip of muscle along the back of my knee of the front leg started hurting a lot. This too is something that I will get used to in time?? Any idea how long this will take to get used to?
Any stretches i can do to get my hips used to turning out like that? The closest i can get to first position is a very wide "V", but that probably isn't good enough.
Any suggestions???
