Question:

How do you find open auditions?

Hi!

I'm 15 and I'm not a professional actress, but I love acting and would like to have the experience of auditioning for a role, to see how it is. I don't have a talent agent or anything like that. Aren't there any open auditions where anyone can walk in and audition? How do you find these?

I'm not looking forward to being an actress, but I want to see how it is (basically how hard it is) to be one.

Any ideas? I don't have "connections" or whatnot, unfortunately.
THanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Auditions for most community theatres are open to the public. Just do a little research and see what local theatres operate in your town and find out when their open calls are (most of them have websites). Usually they do this once before every show, or perhaps just one or two times a year if they cast everything all at once or in clumps. Since you are 15, do as many school plays as you can- they are a great way to get started. Other than that, backstage. com lists open calls for the major cities- you can subscribe for like 7 dollars a month.

As far as how hard it is- very very very hard, but worth it if you love it. Good Luck!
