Question:

I am trying to find my birth-mother, but I can't afford a large fee; how do I search?

I know that I would most likely have to pay someone for this, but I don't make much money and I am a divorced mother of 2, with a live in BF who doesn't have a large salary either. We barley make enough to feed the family. Now, I'm not looking 4 handouts, I'm not here to sob about my life's situation. All I want is to be able to search 4 my birth family; I just want to know who they are. That's all. I've tried about all of the sites on the internet, with no luck. I don't have much info to go on. Can anyone suggest, or help?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It shouldn't be very difficult to search. Check an Adoption
Record Address, at the Library, for a Registry in Washington
D.C., and in the Capitol, of your State.
Librarians are very helpful, in topics like you mention.
The cost to Register, is not that much, and you remain
on the list for a very long time, in case someone is looking
for you.
You can also, write Dear Editor Letters to Newspapers,
in ANY PLACE, where it states, in your information, of a
Location, of any event that is part of your life.
If you don't get an answer from Newspaper Contacts, then
put another letter in there again in about 6 months, and
then spread out to other towns near there, and put letters
in there too.
Always make a copy of a letter you have published...
If you have internet service, click in to "your state newspapers
and pick any location, and send letters, via the email...
to any newspaper you wish to send it to, then it doesn't cost
postage.
Since you didn't state any of your information, I didn't have
much to go on, for you to search for.
I love to try and help reunite families.
You might send some information to my location
bojacks1@yahoo.com & I can give further details, as I can.
