In Oryx and Crake you have the issue of genetic engineering in animals to make new human organs (currently under development by scientists already) as well as how a new 'race' of people may be formed and the difficulties they may face on our Earth.

In The Midwich Cuckoos you have the concept of an evolved species and how they affect humans and the society they live in.
