Question:

I want to be an actress. How do I get started?

I've done 2 plays with the local theater. Broadway extravaganza, (In which I was Nala) and I am currently in Bridge to teribithia as Leslie Burke. I am still a teenager and want to how to get discovered. Am I on the right track?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You are absolutely on the right track. My suggestion is to get as much training and role experience as you could. If there is a High school in your area for the performing arts I'd say go to it because there is a lot to know. You have to build your resume and just be friggin awesome.

Singing is a big thing as well, most shows require some sort of singing these days so I would suggest that you get a singing coach or a voice teacher if you haven't really sung before, Build up your dancing. That is always a plus. The more Ballet and Jazz you have the better. all other dancing forms come from Ballet, but you probably already know that.

I sounds like you kinda know what you are doing so far. I would say just keep going on and audition for EVERYTHING you possibly can. You want to show people your package and all that you have to offer. After a while when you are really good and you've won a couple of awards, and you think of yourself as a tripple threat, then move. Move to L.A. or to New york but don't rush it. Get lots of roles first and all the training you can and do TONS of research on the business. Actors, directors, theaters, play writes, producers, and all that Jazz. it's important to know what to expect and who you are auditioning for once you get out there.

Actors and Actress these days are expected to do it all and I think you are on the right track to ask for help or ideas. The truly smart ones ask instead of trying to do it on their own. But the smartest are to take the advice and make it work specific to them.

Have Fun!!!
