The Willow Tree

The sleeping weeping willow drips water
As I slide beneath the branches to ponder about you
My feelings for you were ripped and slaughtered
I wish I could tell you it was all untrue
Yet I can??t
For it??s not
I can??t rant
Me you??ve caught
I wish that I never told him
I wish I hadn??t opened my mouth
Now every weeping willow is hanging by a limb
When I pass by one, I stare with a pout
A single tear rolls down my cheek
When I think about us
When I think about what it could be
I just want to scream and cuss
But you
You don??t
Still I
Like you
Sitting here beneath the weeping willow tree
Under the broken branches with dripping water
Upon my head, thinking about if you could see
My feelings for you have not truly been slaughtered
I still feel a quiver of shock when I see you
Like the willow, struck by lightning in the sky
What can be done, what can I do
I can only sit upon what once was the willow tree

And wonder why.

What do you think?
